Most VR or XR applications require hand controllers to interact with the virtual content. The hand controllers allow you to interact with certain objects in the application, such as “touching” something in virtual reality, picking up a virtual object, pressing a button, or interacting with objects with your hands or fingers in other ways, just as you would with your hands in real life.
Both right and left controls have the same buttons:
1. Grab (grip button)
2. Trigger (trigger)
3. Joystick
4. A button
5. B button
6. Menu button
The Grab button is most easily used with the middle finger. It is used to grab and hold things in the virtual environment. For example, the grab button allows you to move and pivot objects. If you have grabbed an object in the virtual environment and then release the button, you will also drop the object in the virtual environment.
The trigger button is most easily used with the index finger. The Trigger button allows you to press virtual buttons, or select and interact with items in the virtual environment. For example, in a menu, you can select by first touching the desired option with the controller and then pressing the Trigger button.
The joystick is most easily used with the thumb. It is used to move or control something in the virtual environment.
The menu button is used to turn on/off the hand controllers and to access menus or settings in the virtual environment.
The A and B buttons have different functions/actions depending on the program used.
